We're at the old house. My mom and I are in the living room. She's sitting on the couch, talking to someone on the phone, and I'm using my computer. I start it up and jump back and scream when a picture flashes at me. It's a picture of some girl I know from online, about 16 or 17 years old, and she has some kind of terminal illness. The picture is just her in this pink and purple nightgown, but it scares me to look at her face. My mom is all freaked out when I tell her about the girl also. The girl's favorite thing is paper dolls, and her mom has a certain doll she loves but the mom won't let her even look at it because it's so valuable. I reach down with my toe to turn the computer off, but I accidentally start it up again, and I go out to the porch so I won't have to see the picture. I'm seeing the girl's mom at her work; she works in a school cafeteria. She's talking to another woman when their boss comes. He tells her she's going to get some kind of special bonus. The woman says she doesn't know if he means it or is just going to play a trick on her, but she says it would be really nice if it was real. She's hoping it's either money or a vacation.

I'm at this haunted house with a bunch of other people. One of them is a girl who is supposed to be my sister. She's wearing a blue school uniform. She keeps making noises in the rooms of the second floor by stomping her feet to scare me. I keep going up there anyway to use the bathroom. It changes to my house, where everyone is meeting so we can go to a huge party at the haunted house. we get all organized into groups so we can drive over there. I'm driving and taking along my mom, brother, and Rose. we get there at the same time my dad and his group arrive. It's suddenly the next morning, and we're still at the haunted house. We're all up on the second floor balcony, and my mom goes to use the bathroom downstairs even though there's one upstairs, which I go to. I'm at work, but leave so I can go buy stuff to fight against the ghosts at the haunted house. The shop is on the corner of a four-way intersection with no lights or stop signs. I wait for a car on the right side of the street to go before I turn left, and then into the shop's parking lot. As I'm walking in, I pass by a girl who drives a semi, and she makes this motion with her arm and imitates the sound of the truck honking. I laugh and go inside. I'm looking at the bibles and religious statues, and think I should get miniature ones so they can fit in my purse, then decide I don't need anything more; I have all my own stuff, already. I'm back at the haunted house with the other girls who are going to help fight the ghosts, and we're all changing into special outfits in case we die and have to be buried in them. I have on my black 'Material Girl' shirt, but it's a long-sleeved sweatshirt. It's pretty uncomfortable but I don't change it. I put on a pink skirt and say I wish I'd had time to shave my legs again. I put on nylons, and wonder if there's something I can put on the bottom of the feet to make less slippery if I have to take off my shoes. I go upstairs and the girl who is my sister is delivering mail to each room. We both go inside one that looks like a classroom, with desks and all. We sit down and the girl starts to panic because she's lost her eraser. Losing something means that the ghosts have turned against her and are going to hurt her too.

It's the morning, and I go to my old elementary school (I'm the age I am now, and so is everyone else). On the front steps, I buy a lunch ticket from a guy for three dollars. Inside, everyone is talking about a haunted classroom. None of them want to go inside, but I do. I find another guy who does and we head over there by going through side doors that connect each classroom. In one, a class is going on and we apologize, saying that we couldn't get into our class because the front door was locked. We get into the haunted classroom and it looks like a bedroom. It's very cold. The room belonged to two brothers who got into some huge fight, and after that, anyone who stayed in the room had something bad happen to them. The guy and I sit down for awhile and talk, and kiss, but then agree to never again because he has a girlfriend. I'm using my computer at home and checking my e-mail, and I get a weird one about Dana and people she knows. There's no return e-mail address or time that it was sent. I'm printing it out, hoping she'll know that I'm not the one who wrote it, when she calls me to go over to her house for something important. I go and there's a meeting going on with lots of people, including her parents and Maria. Dana says she got a weird report card. She lets me look at it first and I start shaking while reading it. There are just a few columns, listing the class name, teacher's name, and ID number. Under all of the class names, it justs says "Blood" over and over. Under teacher's name are the names of people Dana knows, and remarks about them. Some of them are horrible and I'm scared to see my name on there. Mine only says, "Yvonne Surprises." All of the ID numbers are made up of mostly 1's and 4's. As we're all talking about the card, a deer comes to Dana's front door, sits down and takes a nap. Dana is afraid to let Maria see the card because she thinks Maria might get too scared, but she finally does. Dana's dad and I agree that something really bad must have happened to the guy who made the card, for him to be that way. I say I almost feel sorry for him. Everyone is going to be staying over at Dana's and I wish I'd brought some clothes for the next day. We're going up to Mount Diablo to perform some ceremony to get rid of the ghosts in the haunted room at the school. Before that, we have some weird seance around a table. We keep chanting the names of dead people, and one of the names we say is Al Capone. I leave the house, and come back in. It's dark and everyone else is coming back in, too. I meet up with Dana at the door and we go into the living room, to find her dog (a golden retriever) eating some (dead) mice out of a box. He throws up some because he eats too many. We leave again for Mount Diablo and I get back to her house first. It's morning. One of the girls who went is gone, and her dad keeps saying, "She's Jehovah now." He is happy and excited for her even though she's dead. Dana brings back a bunch of new clothes, including this magenta sweatshirt for me. I wish I'd gone along to buy some underwear or something. It's time to sleep and I wonder what room I'm going to be in, and am scared to be alone.
