| You're playing to the crowd as the ship goes down |
You'd think that since my workweek is Friday through Tuesday, Mondays wouldn't suck so bad for me as they do for just about everyone else. Today, though, was one of those days when I just couldn't seem to get anything done. I was attempting to play catch-up from the weekend, and every time I started (or tried to start) something, a group of people would come in wanting to be fed. What's up with that?
Oh, but at least I've only got tomorrow to get through, and Tuesdays aren't usually too bad. Then I'll have two glorious days off... in which I'll be able to do very little since my car will be in the shop getting the rear bumper repaired. Sigh. Other than the 'employee appreciation' party on Wednesday night and my writer's club/party on Thursday nights, I didn't have plans except for maybe some more Christmas shopping.
Still, just the idea of being housebound is annoying. I could drive my parents' van, but... that thing is huge! I've only ever driven it once because it's too awkward; like the front end is way too long, and the back - well, if I ever had to reverse for some reason (like back out of a parking space) I'd probably kill somebody. Anyway.
LS and I went to Uno's last night and had both a pizza appetizer (potato/pizza skins - whatever they're called, it's brilliant even without the bacon) and a pizza main dish (the flatbread pizza with roasted eggplant and pesto). It was pretty great, even though the staff would not leave us alone. Our waitress would check on us, then this other random waiter would check on us, and then some other dude (manager-type person?) would come check on us... and so on. To add to the "Monday sucks" evidence, I think my one wildberry lemonade cocktail gave me a mild hangover today. D'oh.
That's pretty much it for today. I'm planning on going for a walk, and have some laundry to do, but otherwise... with "Prison Break" on break (ha) until January, I just don't know what to do with myself on Mondays. Or rather I wouldn't, if I didn't have so many other shows to catch up on. I should probably also remember that since writer's club is this week, I should probably write something, because I should be writing anyway... which reminds me... I completely lost NaNoWriMo this year! I did even worse than I did in '04 (word count about 26,000), coming in at only... 12,297 words.
Yikes. That's (according to my trusty Windows calculator) 400 words a day. To be fair to myself, I "quit" around the 19th, so the average is really... 647 words a day? Still pathetic! Okay, if I only count the days I actually produced* (11 out of the 19) the REAL average is 1,117 WPD.
*You should see the spreadsheet I set up to track my wordcount; it would make my ex-bosses (Kings of the Anal-Retentive Spreadsheets) proud. Seriously, the spreadsheet tells me everything except what I was wearing at the time I wrote... only because I was probably always in pajamas. I'd rather be comfy than be... well, anything else, really.
In the "I'm an idiot" file: I'm sitting here trying to type with numb fingers, and struggling as to figure out why I'm so cold: My window is open. Duh. |
